Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger Point Therapy, Main applications
Reduce muscle pain in localized areas.
Trigger Point Therapy is a type of massage that relieves pain in the tender points and trigger points . The tender points and trigger points are points of pain originating from muscle tissue injury or levels of stress and fatigue.
Tender points are points of pain itself where the pain is located in that specific spot, the trigger point instead is a sore spot that takes the pain to another part of the body and is known as area of influence.
For example, the patient may be suffering from a pain somewhere in their back and this pain can in turn be reflected on the neck. Hence the term trigger point, it is used to name the point of pain. This point of pain or trig reflects pain elsewhere in the body.
Trigger Point Therapy will be preceded by a thorough examination by our therapists specialized in treating this type of trigger points, thus the therapist, through a small investigation to the patient, will know the trigger points that plague.
Trigger Point Therapy is a deep tissue massage that seeks to break the cycle of pain-contraction. Techniques are used such as acupressure, deep and continuous pressure on the painful area. The therapist can use their elbows and knees to apply pressure on the trigger point. The therapist is able to feel the tension at these points, compared to the hardness of a rope knot.
The relief after a massage session is significant but it is not recommended trying to eliminate all the pain in one session of massage, it is preferable to try to eliminate this painful point in several small daily sessions.
